I am partial to a useful gift and when you sew there are always gadgets and bits that we need. Here is a list of small gifts that I’m sure the Sewist in your life will love.

These Clover Seam Rippers are the bomb! They are super sharp and ergonomic with its large handle. Did you know seam rippers do get blunt, so whilst it is lovely to still use grandma’s, it is probably making unpicking a whole lot harder. A fresh unpicker is always well received.

This is a Pressing Tool, it is perfect for quilting but also for kids so they don’t need to use an iron!

Clover Chalk Pens and refills to mark your notches or draw lines to follow.

Sewing Machine Needles! These need to be replaced regularly, after every few projects. Machine needles are available to purchase in different types and different sizes. Universal needs are used for everything and a size 12 is for a medium weight fabric. You would use a size 10 needle for a lighter weight fabric.

Pins, pins, pins! We use them and we always lose them! And oh how I love a variety of pins. A non Sewist may ask, “umm aren’t they all the same?” Nope! You can get thin pins for fine fabric so they glide through beautifully, thick pins for heavier fabrics like denim, short pins for quick projects, long pins are easier to handle, pins with glass heads won’t melt to the iron, pins with plastic heads are easy to see if they have been dropped, pins with decorative heads make us feel happy, good quality pins won’t pull, snag and ruin our fabric.

Sew In Labels – we spend so much time making things for ourselves or gifting. There is nothing better than adding a special label to your creations. Kylie and The Machine have a fantastic range of sew in labels and of course we stock them here.
